Croatia and Turkey found scoring goals hard to come by in their Euro 2008 quarter-final but as they slugged it out Turkish computer hackers were targeting the net in their own special fashion, planting their country's flag on a Croatian government website.

The hackers imposed their red flag with the white crescent symbol on the Croatian Ministry of Foreign Affairs website (www.mvpei.hr).
The flag, on a black background, was accompanied by a small text in English and Turkish, AFP reported.

The text read: "Thanks to all the members of the terrorist group of Turkey and Saudi Arabia."

A ministry spokesman, Mario Dragun, told the Vecernji List newspaper that the Croatian authorities had logged three attempts to hack into the site in the past five days.

He added ministry technicians were carrying out repairs to the site.
